Virginia M. Colgan, 82, of Bradford, Illinois passed away at 3:43 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2022 at Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

 She was born June 27, 1940 in Wayland, Missouri the daughter of Hobart and Mary Louise (Fletcher) Muir. She was the step-daughter of Bryan Buxton.

 Virginia married Bob Colgan on September 2, 1961 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Peoria. He survives in Bradford.

 She is also survived by three children: Mike Colgan of Bradford, Mitch (Kathy) Colgan of Bradford, and Kelly (Charles) Puent of Washington, Illinois; five grandchildren: Zach Colgan, Chelsea Colgan, Nick, Nolan, and Samantha Puent; and one great-granddaughter: Aria Krans.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Vilas "Bud" Muir and Vancel Muir.

 Virginia graduated from Dallas City High School, Dallas City, Illinois with the Class of 1958 as the Valedictorian of her class. She then graduated from Methodist School of Nursing in Peoria as a registered nurse.

 She retired from OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She spent 25 years of her career at the Community Clinic.

 Virginia was a member of the St. John's Catholic Church, Bradford, where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and taught third grade CCD. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and following their sports and activities.  

 A visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 14, 2022 at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Bradford with a Rosary Service recited at 4:30 p.m. prior to the visitation at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 15, 2022 at St. John's Catholic Church, Bradford, Illinois with Father Patrick Henehan, officiating. Burial will take place in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Bradford, Illinois. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home, Peoria.
