Your Loved One Never Leaves Our Care
At Grant-Johnson Funeral Homes, we own and operate our own crematory with licensed and certified staff. This ensures we can manage and supervise the cremation for you.
Safeguarding Personal Identity
To ensure security, and eliminate the possibility of any error, Grant-Johnson Funeral Homes and Crematory will have a personal identification coin with your loved one at the moment your loved one is transferred to our care.
Our Unique Tracking System
Grant-Johnson Funeral Homes and Crematory employs a meticulous tracking system that assigns a unique identification number to every individual entrusted to their care. This number is on a stainless steel identification disc and is used to monitor every stage of the cremation process. The system also records the date and time of arrival at the facility, as well as the name of the transfer technician. Personal belongings are carefully documented and stored in a secure area for safekeeping until they are returned to the family.
Family Identification
Our staff will bathe and dress your loved one in the clothes provided by the family or a gown we provide. Then, we will ask you, or a representative, to positively identify him or her prior to cremation in the casket or cremation container of your choice.
Our Cremation Process
Our high standards require that staff will review all cremation paperwork prior to cremation. This is to ensure authorizations have been received and have been properly documented. Once all documentation is verified, staff members must sign the cremation order, prior to the cremation.
We record the name of your loved one, the date and time of the cremation, identification number, crematory operator’s name, as well as additional information regarding the cremation. Our crematory log is dated and the start time is noted and initialed by our cremation technician before and after the cremation.
The crematory documents and stainless steel identification disc are placed on the outside of the cremation chamber. The personal identification coin is placed inside the chamber with your loved one during the cremation process.
After The Cremation
After the cremation is complete, the cremated remains are placed with the stainless steel identification disc into an urn. You will be presented with an official Certificate of Cremation when you receive the cremated remains that guarantees all the above steps have been followed.
