George O. Hewitt, 95 of Buda died at 7:18 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Colonial Hall Care Center in Princeton. Born July 29, 1913, in Manlius to Stacy and Nettie (Olson) Hewitt, he married Irene A. Heward June 15, 1935, in Buda. She died May 7, 1997. He was a 1931 graduate of Manlius High School. He was a lifetime farmer and union carpenter. He was a former board member of the Buda United Methodist Church, Buda High School and Coal Creek Country Club, and a former member of the Manlius Sportsmen Club. Surviving are one son, Gary (Elaine) Hewitt of Buda; two daughters, Bonnie (Ron) Arnold of Buda and Jan (Richard) Doty of Sheffield; three brothers, Hubert Hewitt and Clayton (Elaine) Hewitt, both of Manlius, and Ronald (Connie) Hewitt of Sarasota, Fla.; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, three brothers and three grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Buda, with the Rev. Jane Courtright officiating. Burial will be in the Manlius Cemetery, Manlius. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Buda Rescue Squad, Buda Fire Department or Manlius Cemetery. Pallbearers: Greg Specht, Chad Specht, Gary Hewitt Jr, Lonnie Hewitt, Ronald Arnold and Richard Doty.
