Colleen Marquis

Colleen (Martin) Marquis of Wyanet, formerly of Buda, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton. Colleen was born to Ray and Norene (Hall) Martin on March 28, 1929, in Kewanee. She graduated from Buda High School in 1947. As an eight-grader she met Darrell Marquis, whom she married in 1949. He survives. Colleen was a long-time member of the Bunker Hill Church in Buda, where she served as a board member and Sunday school teacher. She was a talented seamstress and co-founded Fashion Fabrics in 1967, with her sister-in-law, Barb Marquis, in Princeton. Also surviving are her daughter, Brenda (Denny) Throneburg of Wyanet, and her son, Mark Marquis of Peoria. She was grandmother to four surviving grandsons, Joshua (Minhee) Throneburg of Boston, Marcus (Bobi) Throneburg of Sheffield, Dustin Marquis of Chicago and Jason Marquis of Wyanet; great-grandmother to two great-grandsons, Lincoln and Bishop Throneburg, and one great-granddaughter, Lucy Throneburg. She was preceded in death by her parents. Services will be at 10:30 on Monday at the Bunker Hill Church in Buda. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Bunker Hill Church in Buda. Memorials may be directed to Bunker Hill Church in Buda or St. Jude''s Children''s Hospital. Colleen leaves a legacy of faith for her family.
Her legacy of wonderful grandsons sustains her memory in this world. I am so sorry for your loss, Brenda and gentlemen.

Darrell, Brenda, Mark and family… I am so sorry to read about your moms passing. Colleen was a wonderful person that I truly enjoyed as I grew up. She is in a better place now and in peace. She will be missed by many. Love you guys!
