Clara Woods Madison of rural Princeton died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, in her home, which was the same home she was born in 100 years ago. She was a wife, mother, sister and housewife. She was born Oct. 30. 1915, in Bureau Township to Dennis and Luella Woods. She graduated from the Bureau Township High School in 1934. She married Merl Madison of Buda on Feb. 19, 1936. He passed away in 1991. She is survived by a daughter, Marcie (Gary) Crothers of Rome, and a son, Alan (Janice) Madison of Walnut. She also has five grandchildren, Michelle Godfrey, Nicole (Tim) Krapil, the late Derrick (Emily) Shane, Julie (Brad) Angus and Darcy (Gregg) Henness; and 12 great-grandchildren, Cody, Colton and Caitlyn Godfrey, Ciarah, Haley and Anna Shane, Tyler and Nicholas Angus, Madison and Reid Henness, and Shane and Natalie Clara Krapil. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Derrick Shane; a brother Veriden; and five sisters, Idella, Mary, Martha, Marjorie and Ayliffe. She was a lifelong member of the Bureau Township Community Church and belonged to a Bible study group for more than 30 years. Her faith and trust in her Lord were an important part of her everyday life. She belonged to a card club for many years and loved those in the club as much as the friendly competition. She was an election judge in Wyanet and Bureau townships and a member of the Bureau County Farm Bureau. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 25, at the Bureau Township Community Church, Princeton, with the Rev. Marvin Claassen officiating. Burial will be in the Sheffield Cemetery, Sheffield. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton. Memorials may be directed to the Bureau Township Community Church or the Wyanet Rescue Unit.
