William W. Jones, 78, of Sheffield died at 10:55 a.m. Sunday, June 24, 2018, at his home in Sheffield. He was born Sept. 7, 1939, in Van Orin, the son of Oscar and Audrey (Skaggs) Jones. He married Joyce Coble March 15, 1958, in Princeton. She preceded him in death. He married Judith Pyle Adkison on July 8, 1989, in Kewanee. She survives in Sheffield. Also surviving are four sons, William G. (Kim) Jones of Sheffield, Steven A. Jones of Ayers, Mass., Michael W. Jones of Princeton and Charles W. (Brenda) Jones of Lakeland, Wash.; two stepchildren, Robert (Penny) Adkison of Kewanee and Connie Adkison of Kewanee; 11 grandchildren, Natalie Jones, Preston (Courtney) Jones, Joyce Jones, Jessica Jones, Rachel Jones, Philip Jones, Johnathon Jones, Benjamin Jones, Jason Adkison, Joshua Adkison and Isabelle Mitchell; seven great-grandchildren, Autumn, Bradyn, Neveah, Liam, Nakailah, Milo and Kelsey Jo; two siblings, Dorothy Kniprath of Rockford and Voris Paul Jones of Chugiak, Alaska; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Cathy Adkison. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps as military police from 1958 to 1962. He worked at John Deere Harvester/Plow and Planter division for 30 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Sheffield, Mineral American Legion Post 1031, the Hook and Bullet Sportsman''s Club in Victoria and the Hidden Lake Golf Course in Sheffield. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 7, at the United Church of Christ in Sheffield with Pastor Ross Wyman officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Sheffield Cemetery in Sheffield with military rites conducted by Mineral American Legion Post 1031. Memorials may be directed to the United Church of Christ in Sheffield.
