Wesley J. Samuelson of Princeton, formerly of Buda, died Thursday, April 18, 2013, at home. He was born Aug. 21, 1921, to Henry and Ethel (Kirkpatrick) Samuelson. He attended college at Iowa State College in Ames, Iowa. He married Jean Coss on Dec. 5, 1954. Wesley served in World War II as a sergeant in the Army Signal Corps from 1942 to 1946. He farmed near Buda for over 50 years. During that time he served on the Soil Conservation Board, the Buda School Board and the Farm Services Association board for many years. He retired to Princeton in 2005. Wesley was a member of the American Legion for 65 years and was a 32nd degree Mason. He attended Princeton United Methodist Church. He enjoyed dancing, having coffee with his friends and traveling. He is survived by his wife, Jean of Princeton; one son, Craig (Debbi) Samuelson of Western Springs, Ill.; one daughter, Cindy (Kevin) King of Peoria; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers (in infancy); and one son, Brent John. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church, Princeton, with the Rev. Tom Ostrander officiating. Private family burial in Hopeland Cemetery, Buda. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to his church, the Buda Rescue Unit or the World War II Honor Flight (honorflight.org).
