Wendell Richard Keener, 76, of Princeton died at 7:50 a.m. Friday, Dec. 24, 2010, at his home in Princeton. Born Aug. 11, 1934, in Princeton to Wendell Carbaugh and Marcella Grace (Borg) Keener, he married Joan Louise Faoro Aug. 17, 1962, in Kewanee. She survives. He received a degree in history from Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tenn. He retired in 1996 from AAA Chicago Motor Club. He served in the U.S. Army as a second lieutenant at Fort Riley, Kan. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Princeton, where he was the director of education for Sunday school, Sigma Chi at Vanderbilt, the Covered Bridge Chorus in Princeton and the Tiskilwa Historical Society. He was active in the Vanderbilt Alumni. Also surviving are two sons, Richard B. Keener of Princeton and Andrew (Elsie Stapf) Keener of Lakeville, Conn.; one daughter, Katherine Keener of Kenosha, Wis.; and six grandchildren, Marcella Keener, Jessica Keener, Michael Meyer, Rachel Meyer, Neil Meyer and Alaina Majkrzak. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Karen Mardell Keener. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church, Princeton, with the Rev. Tom Ostrander officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded after the services. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church in Princeton or the Tiskilwa Historical Society.   1. Rick and I went back to the 9th grade in Tupelo, Mississippi. His parents let me hang out at their house and Join some of their family activities..I have very fond memories of those days and Rick and I have kept in touch all these years..I will certainly miss one of my oldest and best friends.     I graduated with Rick at Tupelo, MS. We also had the same birthday and celebrated many together. He was a dear frind and I like many of his classmates will miss him.
