Vivian Luella Berggren, 91, of Wyanet died at 2:45 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2008, at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton. Born Aug. 22, 1916, in Wyanet to Frank and Pearl (Olds) Poscharscky, she married Oscar Carlson March 28, 1937, in Dixon. She later married Arnold "Pinky" Berggren in 1959 in Seatonville. She worked at Ellberg''s Restaurant in Princeton, a shoe factory in Dixon, and Harper-Wyman and Jostens, both in Princeton. She was a member of the Wyanet United Methodist Church and Wyanet VFW Auxiliary, and devoted 1,700 hours of volunteer time to the LaSalle Veterans Home/Wyanet War Mothers. Surviving are one son, James (Nancy) Carlson of Princeton; one daughter, Sheila (Thomas) Yourek of Wyanet; five grandchildren, Bernadine (David) Wise of Wyanet, Brad Strader of New York, N.Y., Jon Carlson of Princeton, Tracy (Paul) Bonner of Mobile, Ala., and Joseph Carlson of Pensacola, Fla.; and two great-grandchildren, Virginia Carlson of Pensacola, Fla., and Nathan Carlson of Japan. She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, George Carlson, and one sister, Elvera Webb. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Wyanet, with Pastor Donald Winters officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Wyanet. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Illinois Veterans Home, 1015 O''Conor Ave., LaSalle, IL 61301; or the Wyanet Historical Society.
