Viona E Gutshall

Viona E. Gutshall, 83, a lifetime resident of Buda, passed away Aug. 31, 2013, at her home in Buda. Born July 20, 1930, in Concord Township, Bureau County, to Max and E. Myrtle (Olin) Behrens, she married Ferris M. Gutshall Aug. 20, 1964, in Buda. He preceded her in death on Nov. 13, 1991. Viona graduated from Buda High School in 1948. She had worked as a waitress and grocery clerk. She worked 34 years as clerk and postmaster in Buda from 1956 to 1990, retiring Aug. 30, 1990. As an active member of Bunker Hill Church of God in Buda she served on the women''s mission committee. She also enjoyed Red Hat outings, sewing, crocheting and making cards with friends. Surviving are two daughters, Sheilla (Andrew) Lucas of Princeton and Linda (John) Dusel of New River, Ariz.; one son, Kevin (Teresa) Kopp of Kathmandu, Nepal; two stepsons, Craig (Vendetta) Gutshall of Huntington, Ind., and Terry (Pamela) Gutshall of Buda; four sisters, Gladys Mecum of Buda, Nellie Carlson of Bradford, Doris Neahring of Manlius and Marie (Ron) Kermeen of Plano; four brothers, George Behrens of Buda, Edward (Madelyn) Behrens of Buda, Howard (Carol) Behrens of Princeton and Harold (Carol) Behrens of Lawton, Okla.; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; one brother, Wilbur Behrens; and two sisters, Thelma Jenkins and Maxine Walters. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Bunker Hill Church of God, Buda, with Pastor John Erickson and Pastor Stephen Myong officiating. Burial will be in Hopeland Cemetery, Buda. Visitation will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Bunker Hill Church of God in Buda. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Bunker Hill Church of God in Buda, Buda Rescue Unit or Wycliffe.

Growing up, I will always remember the little house on the end of B street, then how she put together the home on A. Your mom was the thread that spun you all into the upright and decent family I remember. My thought and prayer are with you all during this time.
