Verden Howard Baumgartner, 92, of Princeton passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at Liberty Village, Princeton.

Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton.

Service will be at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton.  Rev. Ryan Sutton will officiate the service.  Burial will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Princeton with full military honors by the Wyanet VFW.

Verden was born on May 22, 1931 in Walnut to Howard and Esther (King) Baumgartner.  He married Barbara Johnson on May 22, 1959 in Wyanet.

He graduated from Walnut High School in the class of 1949.  He served in the United States Army in Korea.  Verden was a truck driver for Advanced Asphalt.

Verden was a life member of the Wyanet V.F.W.  He also restored many vehicles including trucks and cars.

Survivors include his wife Barbara Baumgartner of Princeton; three daughters, Shelly (Jeff) Grabill, Deanne (Leslie Shaw) Andersen and Sheila (Brent Nielsen) Nielsen; one sister, Jane Harris; six grandchildren, Kaitlynn Grabill, Erica (Matt) Bertelli, Jarron Andersen, Alex Nielsen and Drake Nielsen and Lauren Nielsen; two great-grandchildren, William Bertelli and Isabella Bertelli.  Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Kenneth and Les.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Wyanet V.F.W.

Pallbearers will be Jarron Andersen, Brent Nielsen, Jeff Grabill, Drake Nielsen, Kevin Baumgartner, Larry Baumgartner, Steve Baumgartner and Rick Barto.
