Thomas J. Stone

Thomas J. Stone, 67, of Sheffield, IL passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at OSF Richard Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, surrounded by his family.

Tom was born on October 21, 1956 in Kewanee the son of George “Buck” and Lois “Jane” (Murray) Stone, Jr. He married Carol “Sue” Wright on February 21, 1976. She preceded him in death on October 3, 1984. Tom married Lori Riggs on September 7, 1985 at Sheffield United Methodist Church.

He graduated High School in Neponset. Tom worked for Van Packer in Buda for many years and then went to work as a machinist at LCN from 1999 until his retirement in 2020. He was a member of Sheffield United Methodist Church and the Lions Club in Sheffield. Tom also volunteered his time at Cornerstone Community Wellness, donated blood with the Red Cross and was a former volunteer with the Sheffield Fire Department. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, being outdoors and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Lori Stone of Sheffield; three children, Angie (Chad) Fisher of Middleton, FL, Allison (Brandon) Behrens of Bettendorf, IA and Natalie (Miguel) Munoz of Sheffield; six grandchildren, Carson Fisher, Kenzi Fisher, Beckham Behrens, Emory Behrens, Mia Munoz and Rosalie Munoz; three siblings, Pat (Tom) Weeks of Neponset, Mike (Arlene) Stone of Buda; George Stone of Sheffield; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Virginia Price and Tim Stone.

A visitation will be from 2:00pm until time of funeral at 4:00pm on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton with Gaile Arnold, officiating. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
