Thomas “Lloyd” Towne, 93, of Wyanet, Illinois died Friday, March 22, 2019 at Liberty Village in Princeton, Illinois.

He was born to Thomas E. and Ada F. (Applen) Towne in Bradford, Illinois on May 14, 1925. He married Doris m. Carlson on December 20, 1945 in Walnut, Illinois. She died January 5, 1983.

Lloyd served in the Army National Guard and US Army from 1950 to 1953. He worked at Jostens as a tool and die maker, V & C Construction, and J&L Construction, before retiring.

He is survived by one son, Dennis (Sue) Towne of Defiance, Ohio and one daughter, Linda (Doyle) Johnston of Wyanet, Illinois; 5 grandchildren: Chris (Dorothy) Towne of Johnston, Iowa, Scott (Andrea) Towne of Granger, Iowa, Elizabeth Towne and her boyfriend, Jeremy of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Jennifer (Brent) Muxfeld of Normal, Illinois, Jared (Katie) Johnston of Minier, Illinois; 8 great-grandchildren: Priscilla (Nic Allen) Towne of Johnston, Iowa, Krystal Towne of Johnston, Iowa, Nicholas Towne and Mackenzie Towne of Granger, Iowa, Marshall Muxfeld of Normal, Illinois, Luke, Logan, and Finn Johnston of Minier, Illinois; 1 great-great-grandson, Lukas Allen of Johnston, Iowa; one brother, Kenneth (Georgia) Towne of Wyanet, Illinois; brother-in law, James A. Carlson of Wyanet, Illinois; sister-in law, Mary Carlson of Florida; and his little dog, Cindy.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris; two brothers, Walter Towne and Bernard Sonny Towne; and one sister, Bernadine Carroll.  

There will be a graveside service held Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Hill Cemetery in Wyanet, Illinois with Pastor John Erickson officiating. Military Rites will be accorded by the Wyanet V.F.W.  Post #6634. Memorials may be made to the Wyanet Rescue Squad. Online condolences may be sent to www.grant-johnsonfh.com.

  1. “Thomas”Lloyd was a great person that I Loved very much! We had many good years and I enjoyed being with him and doing things together I miss him very much but didn’t get to see him again the last few years because I was very sick and in assisted living in Moline
