Steven Patrick Wright, 59, of Buda died Monday, May 20, 2019, at his home.

Steve was born March 12, 1960, in Princeton, the son of Robert E. and Mary Kathleen “Sue” (Balensiefen) Wright.

He graduated from Wyanet High School with the Class of 1978. He earned his associate’s degree in automechanics from Illinois Valley Community College.

Steve had worked for Faber Zurliene in Princeton and Coyle Craft in Manlius before opening his own automechanic shop, Wright Services, in rural Buda. He also helped his uncle Virgil farm.

Surviving are one brother,  Joseph A. (Lanette) Wright of Manlius; six sisters, Diana (Stephen) Potthoff of Spring Valley, Teresa (Kevin) Pinter of Malden, Jeannie (Dennis) Franklin of Cherry, Anita (Jason) Reno of Bourbonnais, Karen (Mike) Hopper of Jacksonville and Mary Beth (Ryan) Jackson of Walnut; a very special uncle, Virgil Balensiefen and family, Kim (Larry) Hicks, Lorie Balensiefen, Kent (Cheryl) Balensiefen and Cara Miner, and their children; five uncles, Bob (Shirley) and Tom Balensien, and Sidney, Glen (Judy) and Rollin Wright; four aunts, Betty Fundell, Sally Donnelly, Janet Balensiefen and Donna (George) Pollock; 17 nieces and nephews; 20 great-nieces and great-nephews; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; his parents; one brother, Robert Roe Wright; 11 aunts and uncles; and one niece, Melisa Wright.

He loved his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Steve had God in his heart and always assisted those in need. His family and friends enjoyed his unique sense of humor and dry wit.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 23, at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton. A rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 24, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sheffield with Father Scott Potthoff and Father Mark Miller officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Tiskilwa.
