Steven Matthew Kelly
January 26, 1964 ~ September 23, 2022
Steven Matthew Kelly, 58, of Bradford, IL died peacefully and surrounded by his family on September 23, 2022, in Princeton, IL. Born on January 26, 1964, to the late William “Bill” Kelly and Sandra Philhower; Steve married Denise (Shuck) Kelly on April 8, 2006, in Decatur, IL. They celebrated 16 years together; Denise survives.
Steve is also survived by son Timothy Kelly of Bradford, daughter Hillary (Cole) Hartley of Edelstein, Joseph Kelly of Wyoming, James Kelly of Bradford; grandchildren Nathaniel Kelly and Arrieta Hartley; siblings Ryan (MaryBeth) Kelly of Toulon, Erin (Michael) Baker of Wyoming, Mark (Brande) Kelly of Milwaukee, Danny (Sue) Conrad of Peoria and many loving in-laws, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents William “Bill” Kelly and Sandra Philhower.
Steve was your everyday jokester, fun loving hippie, extreme movie/music buff, diehard rocker, impressive guitar player, hardworking man, supportive husband, nurturing father, silly/ornery grandpa, and the true life of the party. Steve showed his work ethic from becoming a welder for Aldrich Co. of Wyoming at the age of 18 and finished out at age 44; his coworkers will miss him dearly and we will cherish the art he welded for others. If you weren’t laughing with Steve at his jokes, you saw him rocking out, telling crazy stories, spending time with his wife and kids, and the snacks and playtime with Nathan and his “Etti Spaghetti”. There was light and laughter when Steve was around; we are going to miss his big heart and daily positive phrases. He said it best, “Life is very short and there’s no time for fussing and fighting, my friend” and “Big love and prayers”. We love you always, Steve.
Visitation will be on Thursday September 29 from 4-7 p.m. at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Bradford and funeral services will be held on Friday September 30 at 10:30 a.m. at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Bradford, Illinois. Memorials may be directed to the grandchildren of Steven Kelly for their college fund. Please make checks out "in care of Denise Kelly". grant-johnsonfh.com
