Shirley M. Fulks, 97, of Bradford, IL passed away at the Toulon Rehabilitation and Health Center on Friday, December 11, 2020, around 10:00 A.M.  

She was born May 19, 1923, in Princeton, Illinois, to Frank and Elsie Barker-Horack.  She married James O. Fulks on October 31, 1946, at Leet Memorial Methodist Church in Bradford.  He died on October 6, 2007.

She was also preceded in death by her parents,  two brothers-Russell and Wayne Horack, and one sister-Wilma Child.

Surviving is one daughter Christine (and Ron) McGee of Pekin, one son Thomas Fulks of Bradford; two granddaughters Staci (and Andrew) Smith of Princeville, and Sarah (and Mike) Urbanc of Peoria.  Also surviving is one great grandson-Dylan Lightbody and four great granddaughters-Alexis and Olivia Smith, and Isabel and Sophie Urbanc.  Shirley also had many nieces and nephews.  

She graduated from Bradford High School with the class of 1940.  She attended Ohio Northern University and MacMurray College.  She helped her husband at the Bradford Republican Newspaper for 15 years and later worked at the Wyoming Post Herald.  She was a member of the Leet United Methodist Church for many years and served as president of the Women’s Society of Christian Service, taught Sunday School, and sang in the church choir.  She was also a past president of the lady golfers of Coal Creek Country Club, a member of Bradford American Legion Auxiliary and Stark County Farm Bureau.

    Cremation services have been accorded and the family will be holding memorial services at a later date.  

    Memorials can be made to her church or the American Heart Association.
