Shirley J. Gibson, 70, of Wyanet died at 9:05 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born June 9, 1939, in Mineral Township, Bureau County, to Edmund H. and Helen (DePauw) Mussche. She was a 1957 graduate of Tiskilwa High School. She had been the administrative assistant to the director for the head of nursing at Perry Memorial Hospital. She retired in 2002 from LCN Door Closers after 28 years of service. She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton and Princeton Moose Lodge 1973 Woman of the Moose. Surviving are one son, Bruce (Sue) Gibson of Malden; two daughters, Lori (Lou) Walker of Urbandale, Iowa, and Linda (Mike) Stover of Polk City, Iowa; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Ronald Mussche; and two sisters, Marlene Mussche and Jean Mussche. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Princeton, with Father Jeffrey Stirniman officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8:30 Sunday at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton, with a rosary service at 5:30 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Wyanet Rescue Squad or the Diabetics Foundation.
