Sandra “Sandy” Kay VanDeGenachte, 80, of Princeton passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023 at her sister’s home in Geneseo, surrounded by loved ones.
Sandy was born on October 13, 1943 in Kewanee, IL the daughter of Elbert “Don” and Charlotte (Pate) Drawyer. She married Gerald VanDeGenachte on June 1, 1963 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sheffield. He preceded her in death on September 30, 2021. Sandy managed the Casey’s Service Station in Buda for 13 years prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and a longtime member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sheffield. Sandy enjoyed shopping, especially for her grandchildren and going on occasional trips to the riverboat. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Sandy is survived by her two daughters, Lisa (Glen) Erickson of Ashton and Tina (Thomas) Burns of Princeton; four grandchildren, Patrick (Kara) Erikson, Katie (Tom) Sargis, Sara Burns and Emily Burns; three great-grandchildren, Killian Jenkins, Josephine Jenkins and Emersyn Sargis; four siblings, Donna (John) Gingerich of Bradford, Bonnie (Larry) Fansler of Marseilles, Gary Drawyer of Geneseo and Sue (Don Larson) Duncan of Geneseo; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 10:00am-Noon on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton. Burial of Cremated Remains will follow at 12:30pm at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Sheffield, IL with Deacon John Murphy. Cremation Rites have been accorded.
