Ruth M. Jontz, 102, of Princeton, formerly of Buda, passed away at 6 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017, at Liberty Village in Princeton. She was born April 11, 1915, in Bureau Township, the daughter of Andrew and Anna (Johnson) Pihl. She Homer D. Jontz on June 1, 1941, in Bureau County. He preceded her in death on Feb. 20, 2013. Ruth enjoyed her teaching career and also teaching Sunday school. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of LaSalle. Surviving are one daughter, Phyllis (Don) Moore of Belleville; two grandsons, Michael Moore of Swansea and Scott (Renata) Moore of Swansea; two great-grandsons, Colin and Mason Moore of Swansea; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Homer; her brother, Carl Pihl; and her sister, Eleanor Anderson. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Memorial Park in Princeton. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church of LaSalle, P.O. Box 1043, LaSalle, IL 61301.     Your mom (mother-in-law) was always gracious to my family. We enjoyed the time her and Homer joined us for various Christmases! And, she was always so thoughtful of ALWAYS remembering us at birthdays. Her memory will linger on.
