Russell W. Hassler, 91, of Princeton passed away at 6:10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at Liberty Village of Princeton. Born Feb. 6, 1925, in Princeton to Ferdinand and Bertha Viola (Long) Hassler, he married Velma E. Mead Aug. 9, 1948, in Rockford. She survives. He worked at Champion Pneumatic in Princeton for 30 years. He was a PFC in the U.S. Army in 1943. He was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Princeton, IL Also surviving are one son, David Hassler of Oswego; one sister, Imogene Anderson of Princeton; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Larry D. Hassler; and one brother, Harold Hassler.

Russ was one of the last true “Champions” at Champion Air Compressors. He taught us young guys how to do things the right way, never the cheap easy way and certainly quality was every day. God rest your soul, dear friend. May Gods mercy and grace be with you for ever. Amen
