Rosemary (Thompson) Beatty, 92, of Princeton, passed away on April 3, 2023 in Walnut, IL at Heritage Health.

Rosemary was born on June 28, 1930, in Princeton, IL. the only child to parents Elmer Lee and Mary Leona (Schrader) Thompson.  She grew up on a farm near Putnam. She attended Putnam Grade School and Princeton High School.  On January 25, 1947, she married Duane Frank Beatty in Amboy, IL. They spent their married life living in and around the Princeton area and had 3 daughters. 

She was a waitress for many years.  She also worked at the post office in Bureau, but her favorite job was as a nurse's aide at Greenfield in Princeton.  She had been a school board member at Leepertown Grade School.  She was a member of Bureau Congregational Church.  She enjoyed making and gifting numerous crocheted doilies and table clothes.  She was known for her beautiful yard that she spent hours tending to…although her pride and joy was her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was so proud of all of their many accomplishments.

She is survived by two daughters Evelyn (Keith) McLane of LaMoille, M.Kathleen "Katie" (Jim) Etheridge of Wyanet.  She is also survived by five grandchildren:  Mary (Todd) Bender, Angela (Mark) McDonald, Mark (Angela) McLane, Mike McLane, Cherie (Scott) Maupin, as well as eight great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren and a cousin, Virginia (Stanley) Brandau.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane, who passed in 2003.  She was also preceded by her infant daughter, Lynn Marie Beatty. 

As per her wishes, there will be no visitation.  There will be a private family graveside service on Monday, April 10, 2023, at Elm Lawn Memorial Park in Princeton.  Memorials may be directed to the First Congregational Church in Bureau.
