Rosalie Nadine Knudsen Foster passed away at the Toulon Nursing Home September 2, 2015 after suffering for years with Alzheimer''s. Rosalie was born on June 3rd, 1930 in Kewanee IL., to Laura and Adolf Knudsen. Rosalie spent the first 10 years of her life at Coal Creek Country Club, Sheffield, IL. where she learned to love the game of golf. Her parents were the greens keepers until her father died suddenly when Rosalie was 9 years of age. After her father''s death, she moved with her family to Argo, IL. and Brookfield IL. She attended Riverside Brookfield High School for three enjoyable years. While in Brookfield she worked at the Brookfield Zoo. Prior to her Senior year at Riverside Brookfield she moved with her family to Buda IL., where she completed her final year of high school. Shortly after graduation she met her husband Lloyd “Dutch” Foster, who had just returned home from WWII. They were joined in marriage August 28th, 1948. Rosalie and Dutch farmed for six years in Buda and then moved to Bradford where she worked tirelessly with her husband owning and operating Foster Electric. Rosalie was the book keeper and managed the electrical hardware store in Bradford. Rosalie was an avid golfer and won five club championships at her home course Hidden Lake / Coal Creek Country Club in Sheffield, Illinois. She truly loved the game! She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary and the Eastern Star and was a member of the Leet Memorial United Methodist Church in Bradford, Illinois. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family in Washington State and with her children and grandchildren in Illinois. Rosalie is preceded in death by her parents, husband Lloyd “Dutch” Foster, her son John Carl Foster, and her brother Leslie Knudsen, Ellensburg WA. She is survived by her daughters, Judy (Gary) Mannon, Yorkville, IL. and Brenda (Edward) O''Donnell, Plainfield, IL., two Sisters, Beth (David) Kitts, Puyallup, WA. and Suzie (Thomas) Rodgers, Ellensburg WA. , three brothers Marvin Swainson, Yakima WA., James (Jimmy) Swainson, Petersburg AK. and William (Billy) Swainson Ellensburg, WA., as well as 11 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren. May our mother, grandmother, sister and aunt rest peacefully. Services will be held at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Bradford, IL. at 1:00 p.m. September 4, 2015 with Rev. Amy Holman officiating. With interment immediately following at the Sheffield Cemetery, Sheffield IL. Visitation will be from 11:30-1:00 p.m. prior to services. Memorials can be sent in the name of Rosalie Foster to the Leet Memorial United Methodist Church or the American Legion in Bradford, Illinois. The family plans to plant a tree and provide the golfers a resting bench at the Hidden Lake Country Club in her honor.
