Ronald Charles Humphrey

Ronald Charles Humphrey, 87, of Sheffield died Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at Saint Clare Home in Peoria. Born May 10, 1924, in Sheffield to Lyle S. and Marie (Groves) Humphrey, he married Neva Smith Aug. 5, 1950, in Sheffield. She died April 10, 1989. He retired from John Deere in East Moline. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Sheffield, and a former member of Ames Lodge 142 A.F.& A.M., Moline Scottish Rite, Peoria Commandry 3, Peoria Consistory and Walnut Lodge 722. He was a 50-year member of his church, Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite. Surviving are one daughter, Jean Marie Nelson of Peoria Heights; and two granddaughters, Marci Cox and Adriann Cox of Peoria. He was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dale and James Humphrey. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the United Church of Christ, Sheffield, with the Rev. Jane Courtright officiating. Burial will be in the Sheffield Cemetery, Sheffield, with Masonic rites conducted by Walnut Lodge 722. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services in the church. Memorials may be directed to the United Church of Christ in Sheffield.
