Roger Harlan Swanson, 88, of Princeton passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Allure Nursing Home in Walnut, IL.

Roger was born on November 16, 1935 in Princeton, IL the son of Harlan and Evelyn (Wessel) Swanson. He graduated from Bureau Township High School in 1954. Roger married Sylvia Larson on August 22, 1959 at Evangelical Covenant Church in Princeton. She preceded him in death on March 17, 2010.

Roger was a lifelong farmer in the Princeton area. He also was a longtime member of the Evangelical Covenant Church. Roger was a past Bureau Township School Board President and Bureau Township Trustee. He enjoyed many hobbies throughout his lifetime including; gardening, beekeeping, carpentry, flying, reading, and cooking. Most of all he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his two sons, Ronald (Dawn) Swanson of Princeton and Peter (Konnie) Swanson of Manlius; six grandchildren, Betsy (Michael) Rowland, Erika Swanson, Veronica (Chris Kosek) Swanson, Nathaniel Swanson, Natalie Swanson and Nicole (Danny) Hartz and one great-grandchild, Kennedy Hartz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant twins, James and Janelle Swanson, and one brother, Burton Swanson.

Visitation will be held from 4:00pm- 6:00pm on Sunday, April 28, 2024 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Princeton. Funeral Service will be 10:00am on Monday, April 29, 2024 at Evangelical Covenant Church with Reverend Derek and Reverend Jessica Boggs, co-officiating. Burial of cremated remains will be held at a later date at Oakland Cemetery in Princeton. Cremation Rites have been accorded.
