Robert Glenn Allen, 69, passed away on Monday, September 11, at his home in Princeton. He was known to his friends and family as “Glenn.”

Glenn was born on September 24, 1953, in Elgin, IL, to Robert H. and Mary A. (Bellows) Allen. Both of his parents preceded him in death. Most of his childhood was spent in Plum City and Stoughton, WI, and he graduated from Stoughton High School in 1971. In Wisconsin, he became a fan of the Green Bay Packers and for many years wore nothing but green and gold. He worked as a retail manager for Shultz Brothers Department Stores right after high school and later as an assembler at Chrysler in Belvidere, IL, until his retirement. Glenn was married twice, first to Connie Runion McCormick in 1974 and then to Anastasia Jones Halker in 1987. Both of them preceded him in death.

Glenn was a very active member of First Lutheran Church of Princeton, filling whatever role was needed from organizing to leadership to behind-the-scenes work. Some of his favorite projects were the local food distributions the church holds (in partnership with River Bend Food Bank) and also the Old Wheels Car Show that is held every June on the church grounds. He also volunteered weekly with the Bureau County Senior Center. He was often seen around town on his bicycle and enjoyed being part of the Princeton community. At home, he loved to tinker with woodworking and other creative projects.

Glenn is survived by his “little sister” Vonette (Dana) Miller of Le Roy, IL, and was preceded in death by his older sister Joy Banes. He is also survived by his son Jera Wyn of Crivitz, WI, and grandchildren Lyra, Ephraim, and Soraya and by his other son Joshua (Katie) Allen of Macclenny, FL, and his grandchildren Embry, Korben, and Lawton. He is survived by other family as well, including Brek and Carreen McCormick and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at First Lutheran Church of Princeton at 11am on Saturday, September 23. Visitation will be at 10am and a funeral dinner will follow the service. Memorial gifts can be designated to the First Lutheran Church of Princeton or the Bureau County Senior Center. Grant-Johnson Funeral Home is assisting the family, and online condolences may be left for his family at www.grant-johnsonfh.com
