Robert Eugene Andersen

Robert Eugene Andersen, 86, of rural Walnut, Illinois passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, Illinois. Robert was born January 1, 1937 in Princeton, Illinois to Paul L. and Ona (Smith) Andersen. He was a 1955 graduate of Manlius High School and a graduate of Michigan State University.
He was an active member of Manlius Sportsman's Club and Manlius Historical Society. He had an integral part in the renovation of the Old First State Bank Building and Museum in Manlius, Illinois since it was acquired in 2002, and was an integral part of helping with its' operations and fundraisers. He served as its' president since 2011. He was a proud veteran having served during the Korean War.
Surviving are his son Frank D. (Betsy) Anderson; two granddaughters, Isabel and Charlotte; twin sisters, Patti Glafka and Betti Appenzeller; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Ona Andersen; one son, Michael Paul Andersen; and two brothers- in- law, James Glafka and Richard Appenzeller.
Cremation rites have been accorded and private memorial services will be held at the Manlius, Illinois Cemetery at a later date. A memorial has been established to the Manlius Historical Society, Box 134, Manlius, Illinois 61338.

To Betti and Pat, so sorry for your loss. It was a privilege to work with Bob during his volunteer time at the Library. He, and your family, did amazing things for the Manlius Historical Society. He will be missed.
