Richard Paul Zinn

Richard Paul Zinn of Princeton died Wednesday, October 11, 2017 just five days following his 57th birthday. He is remembered as a joyful and loving friend and family member despite having suffered many health challenges throughout his life. Rick was an avid and active sports fan. He served as water boy to the Waukegan H.S. Bulldogs football team in the 1970s. He competed in the Special Olympics as long as his body was able from his teens and into his 40s. Rick''s devotion to watching the professional sports teams of Chicago was richly rewarded when the Cubs won the 2016 World Series. He could quote game statistics in baseball, football, basketball, and hockey. Gateway Services of Princeton gave him the opportunity to make his own path in adult life as an active church and community member in his adopted home town. He live out his last years at Colonial Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Rick is pre-deceased by his father, Rev. Dr. J. Robert Zinn of Chicago and is survived by his mother, D. Laini Zinn of Chicago, brother William Zinn (Cathy) of Citrus Heights, CA, sister Cindy Zinn Ball (Bob) of Chicago, as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family across the country. Services will be held at Open Prairie United Church of Christ, Princeton on Saturday, October 14, 2017 with visitation at 2:00 p.m. and memorial service at 3:00 p.m. followed by a reception.
