Phyliss J. Barnett, 81, of Buda, IL, died passed away Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Perry Memorial Hospital, Princeton. Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Grant- Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton with Rev. Terry Lancaster officiating. Burial will take place in Elm Lawn Memorial Park, Princeton. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Sheffield United Methodist Church or the Buda Rescue Unit. Phyliss was born August 3, 1935 in Putnam, IL the daughter of Howard and Merna (Dally) Henkins. She married Dean Barnett May 28, 1953 at the Bunker Hill Church of God in Buda. They shared 63 years together. He survives. She is also survived by 4 children: Mike (Christine) Barnett of Denver, CO, Dan (Gretchen) Barnett of San Diego, CA, Gary (Lisa) Barnett of Sheffield, IL and Sherri (Brian) Code of Bradford, IL; 11 grandchildren: Nicole (Matt) Cook, Alisha (Rob) Looney, Dan (Jessica) Barnett, Angela Barnett, Andrea Barnett, Jim Code, Robert Barnett, Katelyn Code, Jacob Code, Blake Barnett and Jared Code; 3 great- grandkids: Maxx, Maci and Kinsli Cook and one sister, Beverly DeVrieze. She was preceded in death by her parents. She graduated from Buda High School with the Class of 1953. She was a homemaker and local well known seamstress and sewed many garments for the school and locals. Phyliss worked at Jostens in Princeton for 26 years. In this time she sewed the ribbons for the 1984 Los Angeles summer Olympic medals. She was a member of the Bunker Hill Church of God and attended the Sheffield United Methodist Church. She took great pride and care in her home and her yard but the most important thing to Phyliss was her family.

  5. I am so saddened to hear of Phyllis’s passing! I worked with her for 20+ years at Jostens/MTM. She was truly a wonderful, beautiful person! My sincerest condolences to her family.
