Paul H. Lohaus
May 20, 1944 ~ November 11, 2015
Paul H. Lohaus, 71, of Lake Thunderbird lost his year and a half battle against cancer and died on November 11, 2015 at home with family and friends. Paul was born on May 20, 1944 in Schenectady, NY to George and Jeanette Lohaus. He graduated with a master''s degree in science from the State University of New York at Albany. He worked for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission for 36 years until his retirement in 2005. He is survived by his wife, Jan Pruitt Lohaus, his children, Matthew (Sandra Martin) of Maryland, Melinda (Bryan) Jeffries of Texas, and stepson, Paul Taylor of California, along with two grandsons, Andrew Lohaus and Brayden Jeffries. He is also survived by two sisters, Diane (Dennis) Roberts, Linda (Jerry) Allway, mother-in-law, Geraldine Pruitt, and brother-in-law, Joe Pruitt. Paul always worked hard at whatever he was doing. He had a wide variety of interests and talents that ranged from shooting pool, playing guitar, woodworking and most importantly helping his friends. He was always working to improve all aspects of his life. One special hobby was learning Spanish so he could better communicate with his friends in Costa Rica, where he spent his winter months. He had an extraordinary zest for life that he shared with everyone he met, which made him such a special friend to so many. He will be sorely missed and always remembered by his family and friends. His visitation will be on Sunday, November 15 from 4-6 and the funeral will be on Monday, November 16 at 11:00 a.m. with Deacon John Murphy Officiating. Both will be held at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, 30 W. Mechanic Street, Princeton, Illinois. The interment will be at Mount Bloom Cemetery in Tiskilwa. Memorials may be directed to the Tiskilwa Community Association or the Tiskilwa Historical Society

You and your family will be in our prayers. Paul was such a wonderful person and boss over 36 years I was blessed to have known him. He made a difference in the person I am today. I am sure he is with the Lord and is no longer suffering. God Bless you and give you comfort.

I’m so sorry for your loss. At least you got to enjoy your trip to Germany. You’ll always have that lasting memory. I didn’t know Paul well but he seemed to always have a smile for everyone. Tiskilwa was blessed to count him as one of ours.
I was a long time colleague of Paul at the NRC. Paul was consummate professional. My deepest condolences to his family on their loss.

Paul was the ultimate professional and leader. I always enjoyed working with him. I was fortunate to spend time with him in May at the CRCPD meeting in St. Louis.
