Patrick Timothy "Tim" Sterling, 70, of Eaton Rapids, Michigan and formerly of Wyanet, Illinois passed away at 10:36 p.m. Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton, Illinois. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon Thursday, May 27, 2021  following the visitation at the funeral home, with Father Tim Hepner officiating. Burial will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery, Wyanet, Illinois.

He was born June 13, 1950 in Princeton, Illinois the son of Lawrence R. and Mary Jo (Cale) Sterling.

Tim married Kathy Turner in Princeton, Illinois in 1972. Together they had two children. They later divorced.   

He is survived by two children: Nick (Salena) Sterling of Ohio, Illinois, and Mary Jo "Jo Jo" Butler of Ohio, Illinois: one granddaughter, Mazey Sterling, of Ohio, Illinois; two brothers: Rick (June) Sterling of Verona, Illinois and Robbie (Janet) Huffstodt of Valparaiso, Indiana; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death  by his parents, one brother, Robert Sterling, one sister: Linda Beebe and one nephew, Ben Sterling. 

Tim graduated from Wyanet High School with the Class of 1969. Shortly after his graduation he served in the Viet Nam War in the United States Marine Corp.

Later he went to culinary school in Michigan. He moved to Florida and worked as a cook on an offshore oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico.

Tim enjoyed playing his guitar, singing, and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed watching movies and had a large VHS collection.

  1. So sorry to hear of Tim’s passing. Many good memories from the class of ’69. Thinking today of Nick and JoJo and all of Tim’s family.

  2. so sorry to hear of his passing. spent a lot of time with tim years ago. he was a good friend very funny and really could sing. will be out of town thursday so can’t be there to say good bye to him. thought are with his family.

  3. It was wonderful seeing Tim at our High School reunion and I remember back to our times in High School. Those were good years. He will be greatly missed.

  4. I knew Tim in high school and he was always funny. He was the the School of Rock and Meatloaf in the making.. He was a proud Viet Nam Marine veteran. I worked with Tim at the Holiday Inn and at Champion Pneumatics. He was a happy and creative person. He will be missed. Please rest in Peace and Keep on rocking dude!

  5. Tim, you were such an awesome brother in law. I miss you so much. Everytime I see the movie Uncle Buck I can’t help but think of you. You truly were the very best Uncle to Brandy and Ben. You always had a smile , a joke or a song for us. I Love You and I miss You
