Orville "Ollie" H. Mahnesmith, 84, of Kewanee, Illinois passed away Monday, April 4, 2022 at his home in Kewanee, Illinois.

He was born November 17, 1937 in Kewanee, Illinois the son of Floyd and Sophia (Verstrate) Mahnesmith.

Ollie married Joyce Krause in Kewanee on September 7, 1957. They shared 37 years of marriage. She preceded him in death on March 7, 1994.

He is survived by four children: Steve (Yvonne) Mahnesmith of New Mexico, Leisa (Patrick) Damron of Kewanee, Lynda (Timothy) VanAntwerp of Kewanee, and Joseph Mahnesmith of Kewanee; 10 grandchildren: Jacob Hines, Brittany Mahnesmith, Ryan (Cortni)  Rumbold, Rachel Shrum, Madelyn Damron, Gracey Damron, Allyson (Jake) Schiltz, Ian (Nicole) VanAntwerp, Joycelyn VanAntwerp, and Trisha (Eric) Walker ; 19 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Roy (Nancy) Mahnesmith and Fred Mahnesmith; two sisters: Betty Horton and Garnie Workheiser; one sister-in law, Betty Mahnesmith; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joyce; and two brothers: John and Floyd.

Ollie graduated from Buda High School with the Class of 1956.

He was an Airman First Class in the Air Force for 8 years during the Viet Nam war.

He worked for Hysters, Caterpillar, Pines, and American Eagle in Annawan throughout his life.  

Ollie was a member of the American Legion in Buda and Sheffield for over 50 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, and spending time with his family.

A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church of Kewanee, Illinois, with a funeral service being held at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Mark Graham, officiating. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Kewanee, Illinois with military rites conducted by the Kewanee Veteran's Council.
