Nancy Bell Sampson, 89, of Princeton, Illinois passed away Monday, April 25, 2022 at Liberty Village Nursing Home, Princeton, Illinois.            

 Nancy was born February 3, 1933 at home in rural Buda, Illinois the daughter of Ernest W. and Imogene S.(Chase) Eckhoff.

 She married Roger Bell August 26, 1950 at the Congregational Church in Buda. He preceded her in death January 29, 1972. Nancy married Ron Sampson on November 19, 1983 in Princeton, Illinois. Ron preceded her in death on December 4, 2019.

 She is survived by three children: Duane (Lisa) Bell of Dallas, Texas, Nyla (Rich Knable) Pinter of Normal, Illinois and Joe (Julie) Bell of Princeton, Illinois; one son-in law, Bill Landis of California; 6 grandsons and 3 granddaughters; 10 great-grandchildren; 3 step-children; and 5 nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, one daughter, Janet Landis,  two sisters: Genevieve Eckhoff and Winona Roberts Arnold, and one son-in law, Gale Pinter.

 Nancy graduated as salutatorian from Buda High School with the Class of 1950.

 In her lifetime Nancy sold Avon Cosmetics, worked for Carps Department Store,  and the Bureau Valley Chief. She also was a bus driver for the Tiskilwa and  Princeton school districts and retired from Jostens. After retirement, Nancy was a secretary for the First Baptist Church of Princeton and a community volunteer for the Lovejoy Homestead.

Nancy enjoyed reading in her spare time, bowling, and collecting bells.

 A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 29, 2022 at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton, Illinois.  A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton with Deacon John Murphy, officiating. Burial will take place in Mt. Bloom Cemetery, Tiskilwa, Illinois with all of her grandchildren serving as pallbearers.

 Memorials may be directed to the Southside Mission in Peoria.

  3. I knew Nancy from the many Eckhoff-Schaefer Family Reunions that we attended over the years. Also enjoyed her company at the Bureau County Genealogical Society Library. She will be missed!
