- Nancy Ann Ewing, 78, of rural Bradford, died on March 16, 2015. Born July 21,1936 in Peoria, IL to Gilbert"Bud" and Marjorie (Black) Bowyer. She married Robert Ewing on August 18, 1957 in Bradford, IL. Surviving are her husband, Robert, of Bradford; one son, Jeff (Mary McKean) Ewing of Cottleville, MO; and two daughters, Julie (Mike) Baxter of Smyrna,TN; and Joanna (Todd) Veirs of Crestwood, KY; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John "Buddy" Bowyer. She graduated from Bradford High Shool in 1954 and the Methodist School of Nursing in Peoria, IL in 1957. She worked as a nurse at Methodist Hospital and also for Dr. Robert Brandes and Dr. Carter as a surgical nurse. She also volunteered for several years with the Bradford Rescue Squad. She was actively involved in PTA with Bradford Schools, United Methodist Women and Methodist Youth Fellowship at Leet Memorial United Methodist Church, and never missed a basketball game, volleyball game or track meet. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March, 21 at Leet Memorial United Methodist Church in Bradford. The Rev. Amy Holman will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 20, at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Bradford and one hour prior to services at church on Saturday, March 21. Burial will be at Bradford Cemetery. We were saddened to learn of Nancy’s passing and offer our heartfelt sympathies to Bob and his family. Our family still treasures Grandma Black’s green bean casserole recipe.
