Merwyn R. Gerard, 85, of Kewanee formerly of Bradford, Illinois, died at 8 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at his home in Kewanee. Visitation is 10-11 a.m prior to the service Friday, August 3, 2018 at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Bradford, Illinois. Services are Friday, August 3, 2018 at 11 am at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Bradford, Illinois. Military rites will be accorded by the Bradford American Legion Post #445. Burial will be at Bradford Cemetery, Bradford, Illinois Gerard was born April 25, 1933, in Bradford, Illinois, the son of George and Ethel (Peterson) Gerard. He married Elizabeth Ann Mills in Bradford, Illinois on November 16, 1955. She survives in Kewanee. Survivors include two sons: Marvin “Butch” (Marsha) Gerard of Bradford, Illinois, and Michael Gerard of Tiskilwa, Illinois; one daughter, Dawn (Kevin) Hull of Kewanee, Illinois; four grandchildren: Jason, Jacque, Jordan and Steven; two great-granddaughters, Violet and Scarlett; two brothers: Dean (Kathi) Gerard of LaSalle, Illinois and Gene Gerard of Bradford, Illinois He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Donald; and one grandson, Justin Gerard. Gerard served as a staff sergeant in the Air Force working as a mechanic. He was an Air Craft Mechanic for 4 years in the service and and auto mechanic for 45 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bradford, Illinois. Memorials may be made to Bradford Rescue Squad Grant- Johnson Funeral Home, Bradford, is handling the arrangements
