Mervyn D. Wilson, 89, of Manlius, Illinois, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Heritage Health Nursing Home, Walnut, Illinois  

 Cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the  Manlius Sportsmen's Club.

 Mervyn was born November 8, 1931 in Tampico, Illinois the son of Arthur and Marie (Miller) Wilson.

 He married Vivian Wise September 19, 1954  in New Bedford, Illinois. They shared 66 years together. She survives in Walnut. 

 He is also survived by two sons: Duane (Jamie) Wilson of Kewanee, IL and Kevin (Lisa) Wilson of Sheffield, Illinois; four grandchildren: McKayla and McKenzie Wilson both of Kewanee and Alexandra and Tanner Wilson both of Chicago, IL; one sisiter, Bess Brown of Yorktown, IL, and numerous nieces and nephews.  

 Mervyn was preceded in death by his parents and one brother,  Arthur Wilson, Jr.  

 He graduated from Manlius High School with the Class of 1951. After high school he enlisted in the United States Army.

 Mervyn was a lifelong farmer and was a carpenter. He was a dedicated husband, loving father, and amazing grandpa as long as you stayed out of his kitchen.  

 He was an avid bowler, played rolle bolle, and enjoyed fishing. Mervyn and Vivian used to enjoy dancing. He was member of the Manlius Sportsmen's Club and the Hooppole American Legion Post #1191.

  1. Sending loving and healing thoughts to the family especially, Viv, Kevin, Lisa, Alex Kate and Tanner Wilson. I was lucky to be around Merv & Vivian for many years. Merv always had a smile for you and was happy to talk to you and find out what was new in your life. RIP Merv you will be missed.

  2. Merv was a great man! I enjoyed getting to know Merv over the years. He was a kind and patient man who really enjoyed his sports. We always enjoyed having Merv as a bus driver as well. My condolences to the entire family.

  3. My husband,Bill, and Merv worked together in the school district’s bus system for many, many years. Bill enjoyed Merv’s companionship for a long time thru many conversations. It was a good friendship.

  4. Merv was a great guy. I remember many a bowling tourney I would go to see mom & dad. Merv was always one of the crew. Always smiling and laughing, this is how I will remember him.
    I suspect, by now Dad has arranged a HBA tourney (Heaven Bowling Assn)!
