Melva Jean "Meve" McCalmont Jones died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2020, at the Azura Memory Care Center in Stoughton, Wis.

Melva was born Oct. 20, 1925, in Eureka, Kan., to Otto Baldwin and Mable Louden McCalmont. She married Russell B. "Buzz" Jones Oct. 18, 1947, at the Wyanet Congregational Church in Wyanet.

Melva worked in Princeton at Soderberg Shoes and Landahls Clothing Store. Through both her work and home life she loved crafting, sewing, and making cards for her many friends and family. She could make anything from beautiful Christmas ornaments, Halloween costumes and doll clothes.

Left to mourn her loss are her two daughters, Dee Dee Sapp and her partner, Jerry Woodhouse, and Kellye and Richard Nading. Also left behind are her grandsons and wives, Corey and Erin Sapp, Eric and Julie Sapp, and Drew Nading. She also left behind two special nieces, Rise Rogers and Havens Levitt and wife, Rebecca.

Melva was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Russell; and her three sisters, Carmen McCalmont, Ardell Levitt and Nadine Rogers.

At Melva's request, there will be no visitation or service. She would avoid mourning and instead share a smile or a story among friends.

A private graveside service and celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Memorials can be made to Agrace Hospice, 5395 E. Cheryl Pkwy., Fitchburg, WI 53711; or the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave, Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.

The Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton is handling arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.grant-johnsonfh.com.
