Marzetta June Kerber Slock

Marzetta June Kerber Slock, 85, of Manlius passed away Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, at 7:15 p.m. at CGH Medical Center, Sterling, Ill. Born June 15, 1924, in Princeton to LeRoy (L''Berta Plumley) Raabe, she married Forrest LeRoy Kerber on May 26, 1946, in Manlius. He died Sept. 24, 1983. She then married Richard Charles Slock on July 20, 1996, in Manlius. He survives. Also surviving are a son, Allan (Joan) Kerber of Sheffield; daughter, Linda (Max) Halberg of Manlius; two stepsons, Joe Slock of Sheffield and Tom (Joy) Slock of New Bedford; four grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and six step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Chad Kerber; and brother, Merlon Raabe. She graduated from Manlius High School in 1942. She graduated from Galesburg Cottage School of Nursing. She had worked for Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton as a registered nurse and also worked for Edwin Mullin in the Manlius Clinic. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manlius, and also a member of Women of the ELCA. She had served in the Air Force Cadet School of Nursing. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 25, 2010, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manlius, with Pastor David Berry officiating. Burial will be in Manlius Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. today, Jan. 24, 2010, at the church. Memorials can be directed to her church or Manlius Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeramy Foes, Dawn and Steven Michlig, Ryan and Dana Kerber and Angela Kerber. Honorary pallbearer is Roger Hanich.
