            Mary Jeannetta (Horton) Powers, 91, of Princeton passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at Country Comfort Homes. She was born on January 24, 1931 to the late Theodore and Helen (Pillars) Horton. Her mother died March of 1931. Mary was raised by her father Theodore, grandparents, aunt Marmer and family. Mary attended Buda area schools, graduating in 1950 from Buda High School. She married Harold Lee Powers of Princeton on September 4, 1953.  

            She was preceded in death by her husband Harold, parents, step-mother and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

            Mary is survived by her two children Dawn L. Leffelman of Princeton and Michael S. Powers of Peoria; three grandchildren Christopher (Megan) Leffelman and Theodore (Emily) Leffelman both of La Moille and Andrea ( Anthony) Cain of  Princeton. She was blessed with seven great-grandchildren: Gavin and Hadley Leffelman; Jolee, Jack and Jayson Leffelman all of La Moille; Tucker and Patrick Cain of Princeton. She is also survived by her dearest sister/cousin Judith (Louis) Bergandi of Minden, Nevada and her family.

            Mary was a hard worker on the farm alongside her husband. As well as worked at several other Princeton area businesses. She also worked at the Historical Owen Lovejoy home as a tour guide which allowed her to make many new and interesting friends.

            The family would like to give a special thank you to the many caregivers at the Country Comfort Home and Colonial Nursing Home for their exceptional care. Visitation is Monday October 24, from 4-7 p.m. at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton. Funeral will be Tuesday October 25, at 10 a.m. also at Grant- Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hopeland Cemetery in Buda, Illinois. Pallbearers will her three grandchildren and their spouses. Memorials will be directed to the family.  grant-johnsonfh.com
