Mary Edith Vaughn

Mary Edith Vaughn, 102, of Princeton died at 8:25 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2012, at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton. Born June 28, 1909, in Green County, Tenn., to James C. and Eliza (Kite) Carter, she married Lawrence Vaughn Nov. 24 1928, in Rockford. He died Aug. 5, 1983. She worked at Montgomery Ward in Princeton for 25 years as inventory bookkeeper. She was a member of the Bureau Township Community Church, Wyanet. Surviving are one son, Gary (Helen) Vaughn of Princeton; one daughter, Sharon (Don) Johnson of Princeton; five grandchildren, Mike (Carole) Vaughn of Princeton, Kevin Vaughn of Princeton, Craig (Lori) Vaughn of Racine, Wis., LeaAnne (George) Roach of Elgin and Jennifer (Stan) Lambert of San Antonio, Texas; 10 great-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Everett (Shirley) Carter of Princeton. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and four sisters. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Bureau Township Community Church, Wyanet, with the Rev. Marvin Claassen officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Wyanet. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at church at the church.
