Mary E. Ferris

Mary Edna Ferris, 97, of Kewanee and formerly of Bradford, died at 3:25 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Bradford, Pastor Jan Ringenberg officiating. Burial will be in Osceola Grove Cemetery, rural Bradford. Visitation will be an hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Bradford Rescue Squad. She was born June 18, 1919, in Bradford, the daughter of Frank and Daisy Ruth (Hewitt) Mannon. She married Ross Edwin Ferris on Aug. 16, 1937, in Davenport, Iowa. He preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 1982. Surviving are five daughters, Linda Tank of Kewnaee, Betty Tank of Moline, Barbara (Jerry) Klein of Wyoming and Mary Lou Parker and Peggy (Russ) Coombes, both of Kewanee; two sons, Lynn (Margaret) Ferris and Kenny (Judy) Ferris, both of Bradford; 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Julie Barton of Farmington and Frances (Dale) Price of Kewanee; a brother, Frank Mannon of Kewanee; and a sister-in-law, Julie Loper of Kewanee. She was also preceded in death by her parent; an infant son, Marshall Ferris; two grandsons, Randy Peterson and Craig Tank; and a brother, Clyde Mannon. She was a homemaker and farmer''s wife. Mary enjoyed her flower gardens and did a lot of canning from her vegetable garden. She donated homemade quilts to the veterans. She was an awesome woman and an inspiration to all that knew her.
