Mary C. Sondgeroth, 67, of Princeton, Illinois passed away Monday, January 4, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family and friends.
She was born January 5, 1953 in Pontiac, Illinois the daughter of Marguerite Kidd.
Mary married Vernon Sondgeroth on November 11, 1972 at Peterstown Church, Mendota, Illinois. He survives in Princeton.
Also surviving are four children: Lisa (Jeff) Fultz of Ohio, Illinois, Lori Sondgeroth of Princeton, Ryan Sondgeroth of Princeton, and Gina (Victor) DaCosta of Palm Coast, Florida; 6 grandchildren: Kayla Griffin, Dustin Fultz, Zachary Tuft, Wyatt Fultz, Savanna DaCosta, and Vanessa DaCosta; two great-grandchildren: Bennett Mathesius and Autumn Smith; her great-aunt, Dorothy Wallace of Troy Grove, Illinois; many sisters-in law, brothers-in law and many very special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, her step-father, Vincent Lyons, and two brothers: David Lyons and Dale Kidd.
Mary graduated from Mendota High School.
She worked at Prairie View Nursing Home for six years. Mary worked at Sullivan's Food for 31 years and loved her customers.
Mary loved her grandkids and great-grandkids. She loved to travel and take pictures to keep memories. Mary was very kind and enjoyed helping and giving to other people.
Cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton with Deacon John Murphy, officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon prior to the service Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton. Due to Covid 19 masks and social distancing will be required. Burial will take place in Troy Grove, Illinois at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Second Story or Freedom House. Mary was my cousin. I remember visiting at her grandma’s farm. It was always great to see her. She was a sweet person. I will miss her. She was so kind to come up to my nephews funeral. Vern, I offer my deepest sympathies to you and your family.
Mary was always so sweet and kind whenever I went into Sullivan’s. She was one of the main reasons I shopped there. So sorry to hear of her passing.
I have been blessed to know Mary since I was a child. She was a kind hearted, gentle person . My deepest sympathy to you Vernon and your family. My husband and I are away from home for several months and are unable to attend her services.
Jack enjoyed many neighborly get togethers when Mary & her family lived in Mark. We are so sorry for your loss…our heart & thoughts are with each of you.

Mary was such a kind and sweet person; Marguerite would take my sister Maureen & I on fun trips with her when we were kids. Vince was my mother Lucille’s brother. I offer my sympathies to her family.
