Marlene Marie Etheridge, 86, of Princeton died at Liberty Village on October 1, 2022. Marlene was born on July 12, 1936 in Manito, Illinois to Clinton Wayne and Frances Marie (Woodley) Thomas; she married Dean Franklin Etheridge in Holly Springs, Mississippi on August 8, 1953

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son David Lee Etheridge, Laura Thomas, brothers Gerald and Tom Foes, and a brother-in-law James Jaggers.

Surviving is one son, Thomas Dean (Patricia) Etheridge of Princeton; two grandchildren, Jennifer (William) Bruns of Swansea, and Jeremy Etheridge of Seattle, WA; one great-grandchild, Sophia Bruns of Swansea, two sisters, Connie Jaggers of Sheffield; and Joyce Dixon of Atkinson; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Foes of McHenry and Cynthia Foes of Annawan;  two nieces Angel Jaggers of Milford, Connecticut and Mae (Robin) Rediger of Buda; one nephew Rodney (Marcie) Jaggers of Princeton and several extended family members.

             She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Hooppole. She was a loving wife, mother, grandma and great-grandmother.

            She was always a pink and sparkly presence who loved to play bingo and solitaire and was an avid collector of jewelry. She also enjoyed sewing and costume making as well.    

            Services will be held on Wednesday, October 5, at 2:00 pm at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton, Illinois. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to services. The burial following the service will be at the Greenville-Fairfield Union Cemetery in New Bedford, Illinois.  Pallbearers are Thomas Etheridge, Jeremy Etheridge, William Bruns, Rodney Jaggers, Robin Rediger and Matthew Foes. Memorials may be directed to Zion United Methodist Church of Hooppole.           grant-johnsonfh.com

    So sorry to hear of the passing of Marlene. I always remember her little laughter. Mom and Dad always enjoyed being around Dean and Marlene. Always remember the wonderful times you had with her. God will now be watching over her.
