Marilyn J. Calvert, 86, of Princeton, formerly of Buda, died at 5:35 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009, at Heartland Health Care in Henry. Born Sept. 25, 1922, in Tiskilwa to Arthur and Lillian (Kopp) Whited, she married DeWayne E. Calvert June 10, 1044 in Brownwood, Texas. He died Feb. 23, 1999. She graduated from Wethersfield High School in 1940 and received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Illinois State University in Normal in 1944. She taught physical education and cheerleading at Wyanet and math at Western High School, Buda. She founded Calvert Tax & Bookkeeping in Kewanee and retired 2001. She also worked side by side in the farming operation with her husband. She was a former member of the Congregational Church in Buda and a former board member of Perry Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Open Prairie United Church of Christ in Princeton and Winning Women Investment Club in Princeton. Surviving are one sone, Jeffrey (Rita) Calvert of Geneva; three daughters, Jan (Dale) Kersten of Normal, Joni (Jeff) Todd of Wausau, Wis., and Julie (Gary) Blodgett of Conway, Ark.; one sister, Lauramae Smith of Southern Pines, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Mandy (Jasonb) Hayungs of Fredericksburg, Va, Jessica Todd of Bloomington, Philip Calvert of Seattle, Wash., Hannah Calvert of Geneva, Madison Blodgett of Humble, Texas, and Grant Blodgett and Pierce Blodgett, both of Conway, Ark; and three great-grandsons, Parker and LoganHayungs of Gredericksburg, Va., and Halen Todd Henson of Bloomington. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Arthur Whited Jr.; and one infant sister, Lillian Joan Whited. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Open Prairie United Church of Christ, Princeton, with Pastors Martha Brunell and Barbara Ollila officiating. Burial will be in Hopeland Cemetery, Buda. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m Monday at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Buda. Memorials may be directed to the Buda Rescue Squad or the donor''s choice. Pallbearers; Dale Kersten, Jeff Todd, Gary Blodgett, Philip Calvert, Pierce Blodgett and Grant Blodgett.
