Marianne Bricker, age 76, born to Roy and Ruth Kastner, passed away on Tuesday, March 8 in Princeton, IL after a short and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was the proud mother of Jana and Jon, loving mother-in-law of Thomas and Beth, super-fun and crazy grandma of Noah, Eli, and Liam, and beloved sister of Roland.

Among the many cherished friends Marianne had, her very best friend for 20+ years was Gary (Snake) Bryson.

Marianne was born in Peoria, IL on October 10, 1945. She received a BS in Elementary Education from Western Illinois University in 1967, where she was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority and served as house president. She taught elementary school in Moline, Stronghurst, Cambridge, and Kewanee. Marianne was an AVON district sales manager for 23 years before retiring in 2008.

She loved spending time visiting with family and friends, going to her grandson’s sporting events, caring for her cats and Snake’s beloved dog, Jack, and generally brightening people’s days however she could. Marianne also loved to travel, visiting all 50 states with Snake.

She was a member of Christ Community Church in Princeton.

A visitation will be held on Friday, March 25 at 10am, with a memorial service to follow at 11am at Christ Community Church in Princeton.

  1. Sure going to miss my 40 plus years friend. The lunches, talks, and cards! Always, she was thinking of others and how she could help!

  2. She was a beautiful, gracious, and fun lady. We also enjoyed our times with Mary Ann and Snake. There were many smiles and laughs. May the butterflies continue to fly before or after five.

  4. It’s been a long time since we had contact with Marianne, but we knew her as a wonderful lady who was mother of Jon Bricker, a school friend of our daughter, Holly. She certainly raised a wonderful son. Our prayers go out for Jon and all of her family ando friends in this time of sorrow. Hoping their good memories help see them through.

  5. Marianne, was a beloved sister in the Delta Zeta Sorority.. She kept us all connected over many years. Her smile and genuine caring was her trademark. She will be greatly missed.

  9. Marianne is a treasured friend. She worked hard at her friendships. I loved our annual phone Christmas discussion. I was shocked to get a card this year with her note. We texted right after that card as she waited to find out more. I miss her dearly right now.
    She loved her family , the many friends and Snake. I feel like I know everyone from our long conversations.

    Marianne was a very special person with so much love and joy in her heart which she shared so many throughout her life. You will be missed.

Marianne has been a dear friend since our college days at Western, and I know she will be sorely missed not only by her family and Snake, but everyone she has touched. Yes, she has departed, but she will remain in our hearts forever. Sending prayers.
