Marguerite A. Klett, 90, of Princeton, Illinois passed away Friday, January 11, 2019 at her home.

She was born November 15, 1928 in Flint, Michigan the daughter of Ragnar and Moussja (Heilborn) Clason. Marguerite attended college in Flint and graduated from St. Camillis School of Nursing, Nazareth College, Kalamazoo, MI in 1950. She married Harry Klett October 7, 1950. He died January 27, 2008.

They moved to Princeton in 1961. She was employed at Perry Memorial Hospital in the O.R. She later owned and operated a needlework and gift shop, The Spinning Wheel, from 1970 to 1981.

She was active in the community serving as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader and as a Cub Scout Den Mother. She volunteered at the Red Cross Bloodmobile and at the Covenant Children’s Home. Marguerite belonged to the Princeton Newcomer’s Club, serving as president, and the Business and Professional Women’s Club, where she was named “Woman of the Year.” She was the first president of the Lincoln School P.T.O. She was member of the Chamber of Commerce board, and the C.C. Home board, the Illinois Tourism Board, Western District and she was a member of the Covenent Church where she served as a Deaconess and Trustee. She loved playing bridge and was an avid reader, belonging to several bridge clubs and a book club. Also she belonged to the Hardanger Club.

She is survived by four children: Dr. Kristi Klett and son-in law, Larry Jetzer of Eden Prairie, MN, Jeff Klett of Princeton, Karen Kirby of Hawaii, and Kim Walter of Princeton; her beloved grandson, Kristian Jetzer of Hawaii; one brother, Roy Clason, of Nevada; 3 nephews: R. J. Clason, Bill (Sari) Klett, and Mark (Kari) Klett; 1 niece, Lora McKay, and several great-nieces and nephews.

Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harry, 2 sisters-in law, Carol Clason and Anne Klett, 2 brothers-in law, Jack Klett, and Earl Klett and one nephew: John Klett.

A memorial service will be held held Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church, Princeton, Illinois, with Rev. Bill Shields, officiating.  Visitation will be prior to the service from 10-11am Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at the First Lutheran Church, Princeton. Inurnment will take place at the National Cemetery of the Pacific, Hawaii, at a later date. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Princeton Public Library.
