Manuel Thomas Reed, 79, of Wyanet passed away peacefully at 9:02 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2015, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria surrounded by his loving family. Born Nov. 21, 1935, at Campbellsville, Ky., he married Anita Mae Smith Dec. 2, 1961, at the Bureau Township Community Church. She survives. He had worked in farming and later for the City of Princeton Street Department. He was a member of the Princeton Moose Lodge. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He dearly enjoyed going to his grandchildren''s various sporting events. Surviving are his wife, Anita; his children, Tammy (Rod) Lange of Princeton, James (Diana Dahlgren) Reed of Wyanet, Jeffery (Sandie) Reed of LaMoille and Jerry (Denise) Reed of Princeton; one brother, Linwood Childers of Johnson City; one sister, Rita Jo Childers of Campbellsville, Ky.; one sister-in-law, Sarah Jane Childers of Marion, Ill.; his grandchildren, Sarah (Dino) Petrin of Elk Grove Village, Matthew Reed of Freeport, Trevor (Renee Marion) Rowley of St. Louis, Jayme (Terry Foster) Reed of LaMoille, Curtis (Ariel) Reed and Grant Reed, both of Princeton, and Jacob Reed of Wyanet; his stepgrandchildren, Lisa (Josh) Catton of Wyanet, Joshua Lange of Annawan and Paul (Cindy) Smith of LaMoille; three great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Della and Trapper Childers; a brother, Wendell Childers; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Hazel and Lester Smith; and two sister-in-laws, JoAnne Dever and Virginia Smith; brother-in-law Richard Smith. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Princeton. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Memorial Park, Princeton. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 11, at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Wyanet Rescue Unit or Wyanet Community Club.

So sorry to hear about Manuel. Thinking of you Anita and family. He always got a kick out of me calling him my boyfriend. I will truely miss him. God be with all of you.

Just got in town today and heard the news. I am so sorry. I was hopeful that his heart could recover. Please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers. Manuel was so much fun and so good to everyone he met. We will miss him dearly. Love you all….
