Madelyn Leadley Behrens, 80, of Buda passed away Monday, January 15, 2018 at Liberty Village in Princeton. Madelyn was born April 16, 1937 to Walter and Lelah (Catton) Leadley in Castleton, Illinois. Madelyn graduated in 1954 from Buda High School Salutatorian of her class. She married Ed Behrens in 1957 and had 60 wonderful, happy and loving years. He survives in Buda. She worked for Van Packer in Buda, Farmer State Bank of Sheffield, Amcore Bank of Princeton and Western Grade School as a secretary. She was a Sunday School teacher at the First Baptist Church of Princeton, a fine seamstress of clothes and quilts. She belonged to the Covered Bridge Quilt Guild and was an all around loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She is also survived by 2 daughters: Michelle Behrens of Buda and Angela (Michael) O''Bryant of Princeton; one granddaughter, Amy (Brian) Chamberlain of Walnut and 2 loving great-grandchildren: Bentley and Riley Chamberlain; one sister: Louise (Sherrall) Ruhl of St. Cloud, MN and one brother, Gerald (Rhonda) Leadley of Princeton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Lelah Leadley. A funeral service will be held Friday, January 19, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton with Pastor Rhonda Baker officiating. Burial will take place in Hopeland Cemetery, Buda, Illinois. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Friday, January 19, 2018 at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton. Memorials may be directed in lieu of flowers to Western Bureau County Food Pantry and Buda Fire Protection District.

  1. Ed, Michelle, Angela and family – I am so sorry for your loss. Madelyn was such a sweet lady. She will be sadly missed.

  2. Aunt Madelyn played such a memorable role in my early childhood. I have such fantastic memories of sleepovers with Amy and going to church. Coming home and playing with American Girl dolls for hours! She’ll be so missed.

Growing up I have so many great memories – certainly one that tops the list has to be pre-game meals before basketball games – she took care of all of us! She will be truly missed.
