LuVerne H. White, 87, of Buda died at 12:50 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010, at Royal Oaks Care Center in Kewanee. Born Jan. 16, 1923, in Graceville, Minn., to William H. and Martha Jane (Hultz) White, he married Alice L. Norton July 23, 1976, in Sheffield. She died Nov. 15, 1982. He was employed by Nelson Cleaners in Sheffield, and did security at Martin Engineering in Neponset and Van-Packers in Buda. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sheffield. Surviving are two stepdaughters, Peggy Foster of Sheffield and Norma (Jeff) Joiner of Tiskilwa; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Phebe Mercer, Ruth Harrison, Juanita Kiegans, Geneviene Carlile and Eleanor Douglas; and three brothers, Daniel White, Earl White and an infant brother. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton, with the Rev. Dale Kooi officiating. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Memorial Park, Princeton. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Buda Rescue Unit.
