Lucille Colgan, 104, of Bradford, Illinois passed away Friday, March 17, 2017 at Courtyard Estates, Bradford. She was born October 2, 1912 in Galesburg, IL the daughter of James and Lucille Nellinger. She married Francis "Hank" Colgan in Bradford. They were married for 57 years. He preceded her in death February 23, 1993. Lucille was also preceded in death by 1 daughter, Jeannine Dalpiaz; two granddaughters: Amy Colgan and Sharon Weber; one great-grandson, Nathan Scheeler; 1 daughter-in-law, Mary Colgan; 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Surviving are 3 daughters: Peg (Bob) Bauer of Marcy, NY, Mary Ann (Butch) Knobloch of Tiskilwa, IL, and Helen (Ken) Slane of Peoria, IL; 4 sons: Bill (Carol) Colgan of Dunlap, IL, Bob (Virginia) Colgan of Bradford, IL, Jim Colgan of Bradford, IL, Joe (Sandi) Colgan of Bradford, IL; 25 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to being the mother of her large family, Lucille was an accomplished seamstress, which she truly enjoyed. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Bradford and a member of their Altar and Rosary Society. A Funeral Mass will be offered Monday, March 20, 2017 at 10:30a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Bradford with Father Patrick Henehan, officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at the Church.Memorials may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church or the Bradford Rescue Squad.
Our sympathy to all Lucille’s family. Gene’s mother, Marge enjoyed her friendship. Lucille would visit Marge and watch the Cubs. She did get to see the Cubs win the World Series.

My condolences to all of her family. She was a great lady and I am glad I was blessed to meet her. She truly had some amazing stories. I still remember taking the job as the nurse and Director of Bradford Cye and seeing her lead the exercise group, I was blown away of how much life she still had left in her. She was a wonderful person, my deepest sympathy for all her daughters.

Sorry to hear of Lucille’s passing. I know my mother (Helen Hickey) always admired Lucille and enjoyed her company at the Courtyard. What a wonderful legacy she leaves with her large family. Our condolences.
So sorry to hear of Lucille’s passing! I have many happy memories of her, she was a wonderful, enormously talented lady and a loving mother, grandmother and friend. My deepest sympathy to Joe and Sandi and all her family.
