Lt. Colonel Daniel Ropp, USAF Retired, 92, of Corpus Christi, Texas, formerly of Buda, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at Trisun Nursing Home in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born June 1, 1918, in Tiskilwa to Daniel Frederick and Jessie May (Anson) Ropp. He was a graduate of the University of Omaha in Business. He served 23 years and 24 days in the U.S. Air Force, retiring Oct. 31, 1963. He was a lieutenant colonel in the Air Force and served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was an avid photographer and coin collector. He traveled the world in the service and in retirement. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Walter and Eugene Ropp; and one sister, Darlene Jackson. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Elm Lawn Memorial Park, Princeton, with the Rev. Marvin Claassen officiating. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Memorial Park, Princeton, with military rites conducted by Buda American Legion Post 261. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the Buda Rescue Unit.
